MUGA Day #49 : Architecture and Wines of Sea Ranch and Albion

Sea Ranch is a planned community of mostly rich people.  Albion in a village of mostly locals, except for Sally and Terry Surles.

I joined The architectural tour of Sea Ranch, where every home has a name.  We saw Horizon Reach, Sea Meadow and Top Mast, although I really liked best Wine Barn:

Wine Barn is a house dedicate to the celebration of wine in both its crafting and enjoyment.  They produce up to 150 cases/year, the amount of a small winery.  I suggested that they experiment with a sparkling cabernet sauvignon and, perhaps, a BLUE wine.  We know of whites and reds, and certain grapes, like the Concord, have blue skins, so why not?  Now, a couple of flowers:

This the day that concludes with a wine auction beginning at 3PM, but David Kyle drove me to the Pier Chowderhouse in Point Arena, where we had a feast:

Terry came by for my transfer, and we drove to Lavender Hill (unofficial name of his home) in Albion.  Terry opened a bottle 16.2% Mazzocco Zinfandel from Healdsburg, and we strolled down to the coastline, which looked similar to David’s frontyard.  Terry…

…followed by Georgia.

For dinner I had a scotch tasting at Albion River Inn:

From the left, Bowmore (51.5%), Caol Ila (51.5%), Lagavulin (57.8%) and Laphroaig (60.6%).  These were cask strength scotches, for the standard proof is 80, or 40% ethanol.  I then had the audacity to ask for a Spaghetti Bolognese, which was not on the menu.  To my shock, the chef, Steve Smith, not only agreed, but delivered it:

This was indeed exceptional because the restaurant was overbooked, and Terry and I were eating at the bar.  Per my instructions, I asked for six basil leaves and rings of raw onions on top.  This was the best SB I’ve had in a long time.  Our bartendress, Laura, provided optimal and friendly service.  She’s been here 20 years, but dabbles as an artist.
