HERE TODAY, GONE TO MAUI

I have four days on Lanai, so I thought I'd today ferry to Lahaina.  Forty-five minutes each way at a total cost of $60.  The distance is 17 miles, so the craft moves along at 23 miles per hour, the speed of most cruise liners.  No whales, but dolphins.

I got to Lahaina just in time for lunch, so I went to Longhi's and ordered with a Chardonnay, a sumptuous artichoke (in a 1/4 pound pool of butter and topped with parmesan) and a fancy endive salad:

I had a great view of Lanai:

Nothing much to do but eat, watch tourists and shop in Lahaina.  I did not purchase this:

At the waterfront, a young boy caught this ono on a charter boat.  Ono means tasty in Hawaiian, and, indeed, this is about the best eating.  Not enough is caught to make the marketplace with regularity.

The usual surfers:

I still had an hour before my ferry left Lahaina, so in the company of a few doves had a Cadillace Margherita at Pioneer Inn located at the terminal:

On the way back I photographed this sunbow:
