Well, if you are on the market to buy a home, the timing is now, as the Honolulu Star-Advertiser had a front page article today about Oahu home sale prices hitting all-time highs. This record was attained in 2007 when the average single family residence cost $643,500.
Here is the current and future situation:
- for the first eleven months of 2013: $645,000
- prediction for 2014: $716,600
- 2015: $805,000
- 2016: $872,000

Thus, the expectation of the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization is a 35% increase from 2013 to 2016!
Of course, apartments are not as expensive:
- 2013: $330,000
- 2014: $356,800
- 2015: $398,700
- 2016: $447,500
An increase of 36% from 2013 to 2016!!!
In any case, have you been in a new Honolulu condo? The room sizes are now much smaller. Plus, you would almost surely be on one floor. I have a two story penthouse with rainbows and sunsets. Then, too, there is a more fabulous three story mansion in the sky in the other twin tower also on sale...but for $9.8 million, which is 10 times more than mine.
Get details from Abbie Ichino of Horita Realty at 808 258 4803. Click on PHA2 for info, except note that the building shown is the wrong tower and there is yet no official photo in any of these ads, for the photographer is coming Monday. You are getting an inside scoop before my penthouse is properly described.
