Welcome, country #212:
I'm surprised it took so long for someone from Micronesia to visit this blog site. I once spent a few days in Palau.

In 1979 the Federated States of Micronesia, a UN Trust Territory under US administration, adopted a constitution. In 1986, independence was attained under a Compact of Free Association with the US, which was amended and renewed in 2004. Present concerns include large-scale unemployment, overfishing, and overdependence on US aid. |

You can add Wake Island and Nauru to Micronesia at large, keeping in mind that the Federated States of Micronesia are supported by the U.S., but there are many more islands. According to my SIMPLE SOLUTIONS for Humanity, Palau is the safest human habitat on Planet Earth.
There is, of course, that terrible nuclear testing history of this region:
The first shot, Bravo, (left, a hydrogen bomb) the largest single nuclear explosion conducted by the United States, with a destructive capability more than one thousand times that of the Hiroshima bomb, was detonated on 1 March 1954. The explosion was so powerful it vaporized several small islands ..To this day, peoples of Rongelap, Bikini, Enewetak, and many in the Marshall Islands continue to suffer from cancer, miscarriages, and tumors.
Sixty six nuclear bombs were exploded in the Marshalls. Many of them moved to Hawaii, and most of us don't even know the history of their plight. I noticed this photo of the Micronesian Cultural Awareness Project from Honolulu Magazine:
Surely enough, there is an alarming rate of obesity in Micronesia.
There are thousands of islands here, but with only a total area equal to Maui plus Kauai. The total population is approaching 110,000.
Like hula dancers in Hawaii, there are Micronesian dances:

Tourism is touted. In fact, I'm now trying to remember, did I visit Palau, Pohnpei or Saipan? Hmm...I don't remember. Anyway, blue-tipped coral in Pohnpei:
The future of Micronesia? Maybe the Blue Revolution, for OTEC has now and then come up as an option. Xenesys and Saga University of Japan have proposed Palau for this option.
