As predicted two days ago, George Zimmerman was acquitted tonight. He was expressionless as the decision was read:
The losing team....and I won't identify them, although the Florida attorney general is in the middle:
The winning team:
I found interesting the use of good lawyer - bad lawyer teams by both the defense and prosecution. The bad guy is bald and grates, while the good guy is smooth and can be a leading man in a Hollywood film. Mark O'Mara (to the right above, with Don West to his right) is now the most famous lawyer in America, and deserves to be so.
Zimmerman's father, mother and wife hearing the good news:
This is the first time Zimmerman's mother smiled in court.
I was disappointed for NAACP Chairman Rosyln Brock immediately stating:
"Today, justice failed Trayvon Martin and his family,” said Roslyn M. Brock, Chairman of the NAACP. “We call immediately for the Justice Department to conduct an investigation into the civil rights violations committed against Trayvon Martin. This case has re-energized the movement to end racial profiling in the United States."
This was NOT a civil rights, racial issue. The NAACP needs to mature. No comment would have been appropriate this time.
So is George Zimmerman ecstatic? Yes, in a relief sort of way, for he is a free man. But he has gained 100 pounds, is an assassin's target no matter where he lives, and will have a tough life forever. He was in a no win situation, but at least ended up innocent, for our judicial system can be unpredictable. But he might want to find a good ghost writer, get a book out as soon as possible and then disappear in comfort with the revenues,
