The whole loop from the Hyatt to the Aston Mahana and back could well be almost 4 miles. Today, I walked the longer portion, the north side of Kaanapali, from the Westin Ocean time share to the Mahana and all the way back on the beach to Black Rock, then the concrete Beachwalk back to the time share Westin. I would guess at least 2.5 miles, for it took me two hours. The Beachwalk meanders through various condo properties. While there must be security concerns, the walkway allows restaurants and shopping areas to entice walkers in. I had no problems barefoot on the beach, but I wouldn't do the same on the path, for now and then I saw shards of glass. Above, view from the Westin Ocean to Black Rock.
Now, looking back from the Mahana to Black Rock:
Walking back, I noticed some interesting driftwood near the Westin Ocean, but on closer look, saw that they were still part of the live Kiawe trees:

The most exciting scene was a school of tuna being attacked by sharks. Well, I asked a beach boy, and he said these were just spinning dolphins. But what about those large dark shadows with fins chasing them? You were hallucinating, he said. Yes, my mind tends to be needlessly creative. Another noteworthy bit of information is that just adjacently south of the Westin time share (same as Westin Ocean Villas) was the following historical notage:
No wonder I was confused, for the last time I landed here, which was before 1986, this was the site of the airport, which ran right through the land on which the Westin Ocean Resort now sits.
Some water lilies in front of my room:
Also, someone provocatively getting a sun tan at the top.
I earned a long sauna bath in my room with a Hibiki scotch courtesy of the St. Regis Osaka and a Maui Brew beer from the Sheraton (I will be having lunch on my lanai):
My lunch was a composite of spaghettini and meatballs from last night, croissant from breakfast and the remainder of the Maui Brew from the Sheraton:
I had to purchase the salad. They have two almost supermarkets at this hotel because people tend to cook their own meals. That's Lanai in the far background. With Hawaiian music playing from my room, I may have had my most relaxing lunch ever, and thanks to Suzy, who extended my stay from 10AM to 1:30PM.
Then at 1:45, on to the Kapalua Airport, a five minute ride that cost $15 with tip. I noticed my Mokulele plane not only had one engine, but rather small propellers:

It was windy, so the take-off and landing were shaky. The view was spectacular. First, Kapalua:
The flight pattern was right over Molokai, lengthwise. Here a series of fish ponds:
A long, long time ago I worked on these fish ponds and wrote a paper. First time I had this view from this valley:
Diamond Head from the other side:
Next, Waikiki and the world famous, and my home course, Ala Wai Golf Course:
We then flew right over the University of Hawaii Manoa Campus (sports facilities in bottom left corner):
If you are looking for me and I don't answer my mobil phone at lunchtime, you might find me (top left corner) having a bento and beer on Magic Island, in a recliner under a coconut tree watching the surfers and my Hawaiian green turtle:
Why am I not surfing? I'm eating, plus I would be afraid of drowning. Then the Hawaii State Capitol and downtown Honolulu:
I live a brisk 10-minute walk from the bottom. Finally, the Honolulu Reef Runway with Diamond Head in the far background:
How perfect then that, after a wonderful Maui mini-vacation, I am dropped off by a rather long white limousine:

The Dow Jones Industrial Average broke another barrier and attained another all time record, reaching 15,484 today. Why, I'm not sure. I was expecting a major crash by now. Need to wait until Israel bombs Iran, I guess.
