I spent last evening watching David Shoji's Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Team against Santa Clara. He won his #1107th victory, passing the all-time leader, Andy Banachowski of UCLA:
As part of the celebration, his team dumped all sorts of stuff on him. Here is what he looked like in the beginning, 39 years ago:
He is now the King of volleyball coaches...and it took a lifetime. Former UCLA coach who now only has 1076 victories, Andy Banachowski, congratulated the new leader:
However, watching this all was Mike Sealy, present coach of UCLA, who served under Shoji at the University of Hawaii.
Hawaii plays UCLA tonight.
